It's in the Bag!

So I have Weekender envy! It's true. I love the Amy Butler Weekender Bag. I want to make that bag. However, before I tried to tackle a project that huge, I thought I should probably try something a little smaller, a little less daunting, first. Enter the Amy Butler Blossom Bag. I found it on her website as a free pattern download. SCORE!

I worked on it here and there over a week's time. Cutting the pattern out took a while. Ok, it's seemed like that took the longest. Lots and lots of pieces. Once I got to the sewing part, it went pretty quick. The peltex was easy to work with and gives the bag great support to hold it's shape. Of course there are things I would do a little differently if I were to make this again, but the pattern is well written and easy to follow. I did add a side pocket to the lining for a cell phone and such. That is the only change I made this time.

Now to tackle the Weekender!

Not Your Everyday Sewing

In one week we will be celebrating one sweet little girl here at my house. To prep for her birthday, I have been busy sewing and sewing AND sewing doll clothes. I appreciate my mom and all the doll and Barbie clothes she made for my sisters and myself a whole lot more now! Those little hems and tiny sleeves are not the easiest. However, I love the result and I hope my soon-to-be three year old will, too.

This one is my favorite. So cute and the fabric came from the quilt I made for her bed.

So Happy, Happy Birthday to my sweet little, Sassafras!

A Summer Favorite

This summer I made a favorite new quilt. Well, quilt top, technically speaking. It's a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman called Rain or Shine. You can find it in her book The Practical Guide to Patchwork- New Basics for the Modern Quilter. The book is FABULOUS!

I call my quilt Strawberry Lemonade, and I think it is one of the most cheerful, happy quilts I have made.

With the exception of color choices, I kept to the pattern.

Still need to quilt and bind it, but that will wait til snowy weather. With this beautiful fall weather it's been to nice to stay inside!
